Prof. Dr. drg. Krisnawati, D.Dkf.D.K., Sp.Ort(K). is a permanent Professor in Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia. She is an alumna of FKG UI and has served as a lecturer since 1987. After completing her Orthodontic Specialist education in 1996, she pursued doctoral studies in 2018 and successfully earned her Doctorate in early January 2022. For her academic contributions, she was inaugurated as a Permanent Professor of Orthodontics in April 2025.
In her academic activities, Prof. Krisnawati actively teaches and mentors students at various educational levels, with a primary focus on orthodontic diagnosis. She is known as a dedicated educator who strengthens students’ scientific foundations through an analytical approach to evaluating malocclusion cases and evidence-based orthodontic treatment planning. Additionally, she conducts research relevant to population needs through an epidemiological approach. Her research interests include:
– Clinical and radiographic-based orthodontic diagnosis
– Orthodontic epidemiology and trend analysis of malocclusion treatment needs
– Application of evidence-based principles in the management of orthodontic cases in the Indonesian population
Her contributions extend beyond the academic field, reaching into professional organizations. She served as the General Chair of the Indonesian Orthodontists Association (IKORTI) for two consecutive terms, from 2014–2017 and 2017–2022. Under her leadership, IKORTI became more active in international forums, and Prof. Krisnawati’s name became widely known in the Asia Pacific region through her contributions to the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS).
