Dental Radiology Specialist

The Dental Radiology Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia focuses on mastering imaging and diagnostic interpretation of craniofacial structures within the stomatognathic system. The program is based on radioanatomy, radio-anomalies, advanced pathology, physics, radiation biology, and radiation safety principles. The education is designed to produce specialists who excel in the diagnostic imaging of complex cases by utilizing both conventional and modern digital radiographic techniques (2D, 3D, and the latest imaging technologies) to support optimal clinical dental management.

Requirements

Prospective program participants are expected to meet the following academic and administrative requirements to successfully participate in the selection and study process. The requirements are as follows.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 for both undergraduate and professional degrees
  • Possess a valid Registration Certificate (STR) as a general dentist
  • Attach a health certificate and drug-free (NAPZA) certificate from a government hospital
  • Provide two letters of recommendation, including one from a direct supervisor
  • Pass all stages of the selection exams and interviews

Facilities

This program is supported by the Dental Radiology Clinic at the Dental and Oral Hospital (RSKGM) of the Faculty of Dentistry UI, which is equipped with modern and comprehensive facilities to support the learning process and clinical practice, including the following.

  • Conventional and digital dental radiography
  • Conventional and digital panoramic and cephalometric radiography
  • 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) radiography
  • Medical printer for printing imaging results

Curriculum

The curriculum for this program is designed comprehensively and structurally to equip students with theoretical and practical competencies in dental radiology interpretation. The courses and learning activities undertaken by students are as follows.

  • Specialist Interpretation of 2D and 3D Imaging, including radioanatomy and growth anomalies
  • Intraoral and Extraoral Digital Radiology Techniques
  • Modern Diagnostic Imaging, including the latest imaging techniques and interpretation
  • Development of Dental Radiology Science and Technology
  • Clinical Skills and Team Collaboration through the interpretation of specialist cases
