International Office of UI participated in the APAIE Conference, 11-14 march 2013. APAIE is the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education established by founding committees of university representatives from 13 countries/regions in Asia Pacific at Korea University, Seoul in 2004. It is a non-profit organization to promote professional development of international educators as well as encourage dialogue, sustainable partnership and networks in the internationalization of higher education among institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. The primary purpose is to achieve greater cooperation between institutions and to advance the quality of international programs, activities, and exchanges for the harmony and advancement of the Asia-Pacific region.
In 11-14 March 2013, Universitas Indonesia, showing enthusiastic to achieve similar goal, has taken part in the conference held in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the top university in Hong Kong and Asia. At glance, there are some programs included such as workshop, exhibition, visits to local universities and city tour. For instance, the workshop reveals understanding higher education in China, internationalization and student mobility and its support services. The speakers are important people in his field, Jeffrey Smart, Vice president (International & Development) of Swinburne University of Technology, Vanessa Cook, international Outreach Coordinator, The University of Mississippi and many more. Universitas Indonesia also opened booth to promote our university and has successfully attracted a lot of visitors and educators leading to the partnership program. By participating the conference, there are several essential key advantages :
First, the broader opportunity of Universitas Indonesia to internationalization. There will be more number of international students who are interested to study and be acquainted to mesmerizing Indonesian culture, especially UI.
Second, the broader opportunity for partnership as the way of improvement and development of UI. By signing a lot of partnership, Universitas Indonesia can move freely as the most prospective university in Indonesia to be involved in the international world.
